CONTEMPORARY DESIGN STYLE.

At some point, there's probably been a time where we've all confused modern interior design with contemporary style and though they share similarities, contemporary home decor stands all on its own.
Contemporary design style is classic yet thoroughly of the moment and timeless.
While modern design can feel cold, limiting and overtly minimal, contemporary style is calming and serene and is peppered with a focus of architectural elements, decorative details, attention to bold scales and a concise color palette to create a warm space with easy sophistication. Stick with neutral colors. Don't use floral linens.

MINIMALIST DESIGN STYLE

Minimalist design started in 20th century as a reaction to traditional and overly wrought classical details. In a nutshell, it's design that's stripped down to it's essential purpose and identify by eliminating clutters and extraneous objects.
How do you design a minimalist?
1. Removing clutter is the first step to start your minimalist decor. First of all, tackle your surfaces.  All surfaces should be free of stuff, this way you see the room, the shape and lighting. Allow the mind to be peaceful and uninterrupted when you enter the room.
2. Get a stylish storage.  While removing clutters, you may find items you are not ready to discard yet, that's ok, we all have our important stuff and  memoirs. For those items I suggest you get furniture with drawers.
3. Create a natural base. Serene, neutral colours in your home will instantly jumpstart the goal of a minimalist environment. If your home has natural lighting choose a more yellow under-toned white color. If the lighting in your home is more yellow, choose more blue under-toned  white color. This will balance the the lighting and feel of the home while being fresh and  pleasing
to the eye. Next pair white with grey, taupe, ivory or bone colors.
3. Think Textures. While minimalist beckons a more neutral palette,  you can enrich the eyes with leather, velvet, wood, metal and wool shearing- all in grey, taupes, bone and ivory colors.
4. Keep it simple. Lastly, keep it simple. Pared down accent furniture, simple silhouettes  and soothing arts makes for a clean and  peaceful room. Less is more in a minimalist world so stick to decorating and owning  items  that are essential to the decor and not extra to the decor.

INDUSTRIAL DESIGN STYLE

Industrial design style proudly displays building materials that are often concealed by most people. Industrial style draws inspirations from a warehouse or an urban loft. There's a sense of unfinished rawness in many elements and it's not uncommon to see exposed brick, duct work and wood. If you are going for industrial  design style, think of high ceilings, old timber and dangling metal fixtures with sparse functional furniture. There may possibly be one or two pieces of abstract art or photography to add a dash of colour to an otherwise neutral colours scheme derived from the primary materials of wood and metals.
