FLOORING -1

Your choice of flooring is one of the most important decisions you have to take when it comes to improving your home. The material is an integral part of your interior design. It also determines use, difficulty of installation and maintenance. Before you select, it is wise to educate yourself on what is available as well as the benefits and drawbacks of each.

Let's discuss some of the best floorings there is.

                 TIMBER FLOORING

Timber is durable although it may scratch and its prone to movements. As timber is hygroscopic (sponge-like) in texture, it can be exposed to humidity or moisture but treatments of the timber can make it resistant to moisture.

         LAMINATE FLOORING

Laminate flooring is a low-cost alternative to hardwood floors. It is made of wood, pulp and resin and can look a lot like real wood. But discerning buyers can tell the difference. Laminate can mimic almost any hardwood style. Unlike hardwood, laminate flooring can not be refinished if the finishes wear off or got damaged. It is also impossible to repair. It's finishes is tough and highly moisture-and- stain-resistant but the joints between planks are vulnerable to moisture.
Overall, laminate is a great option for a hardwood look in living areas (not bathrooms) in low to mid-price properties.

               VINYL FLOORING

Vinyl flooring is not a cheap alternative it used to be. These days, this synthetic flooring for the home is durable and effectively mimic wood, ceramic and stone. Since it is so versatile and meant for high traffic, you can put it almost anywhere. It is a type of resilient flooring, flexible material that feels a bit softer underfoot than rigid wood or tile.
It is comfortable to work on and warmer on bare feet than tiles. It's more likely to scratch than any other type of flooring. Also it you install it directly over a subfloor with no underlayer, it can have a hollow, echoey sound when you walk on it. It is appropriate for kitchens, bathrooms or other wet rooms.
